“One time I got the news a friend died while I was on the way to a different dead friend's funeral. Honest to God, I've lost count. Later, I had a day dream. I was back behind the bar at Linda's. The only people there were my dead friends. I knew my friends were dead. My friends didn't know they were dead. In my day dream, I was only safe behind the bar. I got ran. Took three orders at a time. Yelled over the din. Made rent in a night. The bar was full, loud, and seemed happy. Most of my dead friends drank hard. All of my dead friends lived hard. I live more softly now, and I used to drink.” - Owen

“The milestones we were told would mark our arrival to adulthood - owning a house, having kids, retiring - are inconceivable for much of our generation. Our vocal duet cover of Beck's “The Golden Age'' is a steady companion to breezy daydreams & moonlit rides, offering permission to escape the pursuit of an impossible dream in impossible times and a reminder that it’s ok to not be ok. In this day and age, that's the closest thing to normalcy some of us have.” - Blue Cactus

SCR’s own Gabe Anderson takes us through the sonic wilderness of their mind in their contribution to the 2022 Cruisin’ Compilation. In My Place sounds at once like a rollercoaster, a creekbed, a fever dream, an electric meditation. We’re pumped to witness and to host Gabe’s first public music release and can only hope the road doesn’t end here.
