Second single off Joseph’s forthcoming LP, While You Were Slumbering

"I learned this piece from my favorite banjo raconteur, Virgil Anderson, who began playing it around 1920, as he traveled around the communities of the Upper Cumberland performing with the Black string band musicians, Cuje and Cooney Bertram. Virgil Anderson was a brilliant musician—an improviser of the highest order. In my mind, his soft, almost spoken delivery and fluid touch on the instrument serves as a perfect counterbalance to the strident volume of Roscoe Holcomb’s music." - Joseph Decosimo
