Welcome Josh Kimbrough!

Josh Gabe Sam first meeting

Welcome to the team, Josh Kimbrough!

I first met Josh as the calm, cool barista at Open Eye Cafe in Carrboro when I moved there nearly 10 years ago. After years of bumping shoulders at shows I got asked to fill in on drums for his project, Teardrop Canyons. My fear of being cool enough for the cool enough stayed at the door thanks to Josh’s warm welcome and loving energy. Those tunes slapped. A few years later and 6 months into running this label with Saman, we again bumped shoulders at a show. This time he was equipped with a beautiful instrumental record on deck and I had a cute label with my bff.

This video was shot by Josh on Super 8mm with a Japanese Yashika Super-600 camera from 1971. Filmed in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Jordan Lake in Pittsboro, NC, and Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, VA. The music was composed on a 1980s Japanese Seiwa 12-string acoustic guitar while Josh was sitting in a bed of leaves.

The tune is one of two singles on the limited run of 25 cassettes available for pre-order
